the snow trip
october 8th-12th, 2008 5 days, boundary to cache bar blake red, jerry, tom, jed 1.7 feet 3607 trail flat, little soldier, hospital bar, elk bar
my first time at trail flat. excellent hot springs camp for a cooler trip. we spent 3 or more hours, well after dark, sitting in the hot water. then it was time for bed. we knew the weather forecast was for cold and snow when we launched, but what the hell. not all trips can be sunshine and perfect. some trips have to be cold and snow and perfect as well!
my first time at little soldier. two new camps in one trip! i love it. it was awesome to sit around camp listening to the snow fall in an area so remote.
even at sunflower the snow on the boats has not been washed off yet. dry suits are the only way to boat in weather like this. others may lie and tell you otherwise...but then how many people do you see around us on this trip? ;)
no left bank run at cove creek (aka tappan III) this time. we have to run the middle between the rocks. not a difficult run and it looks worse from the bank scout than from the boat scout. in july we still easily ran left bank and straddled the rocks. now they are about 18" too tall ;)
