blake and tom prepare for our cape horn launch may 6th 2005

lower sheep may 2005. we were one of 3 groups at sheep. the other 2 were college groups from canada. (blame canada!:))

tom, blake, jed at wilderness outfitters cabins, aka loon creek! our stay was well worth the money. after all this was the life of luxury trip! it rained hard for about an hour as we strolled over for a great dinner. oh yes we do love to camp out, but sometimes the luxuries of life are well worth it!!

loon creek hot spring. the best one on the middle fork! it needs some work just like wolf re-introdution needs work if wolves are to survive. more wolves? loon creek hot spring is a definite yes!!!!

a small crystal clear creek dumps into the muddy loon as we hike up to see the "nasty" stretch of canyon that eats kayakers and cat boaters.

the canyon of loon creek a few miles above the hot spring. a great hike on a day when you only have 17 miles to float :)

the bennett creek bridge over loon. i believe this was built by the ccc crews back when people didn't like to be on welfare. these days we have to pay a handsome price for them to sit on their asses, but at least it keeps them off the river and out of our way ;)

loon flows into the middle fork as we prepare for our incredible 17 mile journey to the flying b ranch! can we really make 17 miles in one day at this water level? ;) ok it was a relaxing and great day! first we called in our mother's day wishes on the sat phone. it was 11:30 am when we pushed off after a great breakfast and a leisurely hike. somebody has to do this so it might as well be us!

leaving camas creek, 10 miles into our strenuous 17 mile day. lets see anything else we can do to kill time? it's only 2 o' clock you know!

approaching mormon ranch may 8th 2005. see the roof structure in the distance? you need a good roof with 5 wives to please and trust me that the roof is the least of your worries! ;) and today is mother's day!!! ;)

we float on in to the flying b around 3:30 pm. we even took the left channel because it takes a bit longer than the right channel ;) today provided a nice rest for another 30 plus mile day tomorrow.

tom, jed, blake at cabin # 2 of the flying b ranch. thanks a bunch to sherm akers, owner of d & s electric supply, for once again setting us up at the "b"! once again it was great sherm! you helped make our "life of luxury" trip!

another view of cabin 2. we left the "b" at 8 am on may 9th and arrived at cache bar at 12:45 pm. we stopped only to scout cramer and cramer was huge and fun!
